An unexpected Fortnite vs Apple beef has emerged this week, when Fortnite was banned from App Store for violating it’s terms. This is a historical moment both for Fortnite and Apple. For the first time ever Apple is being challenged in the same manner Apple challenged the industry back in 80s and 90s.
Fortnite: Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite
Interestingly, Fortnite has immediately launched a video mocking Apple. This video is a reference to the famous Apple commercial “1984”.
How it all started
When you download Fortnite app from the App Store, it downloads a install package that only launches another download inside the Fortnite app when you open it for the first time. This package also installs a Fortnite in-app purchase system, avoiding the Apple in-app purchase system.
Of course Apple had to respond. Hence, removal from the App Store.
Youtube Comments section
Now as you may know a lot of fun sometimes happens in the comments section under a YouTube video. In this case a lot of people argue that it’s hard to picture Epic Games as a victim when it’s multi-billion dollar corporation. On top of it, they don’t really need much help. Just let lawyers and developers come to an agreement to delivery quality content to the users. There are people who actually need help in this world, many argue – which is true.
