Gears of War Background

Gears 5 is a Microsoft Xbox exclusive third-person shooter video game. The sixth part of the Gears of War universe, it is the continuation of the Gears of War 4 story (2016). The official Gears 5 release date is set to September 10, 2019.

The game focuses on Kait Diaz, an Outsider of Locust descent. As Kait, the player must find out the origins of the Locust and Kait’s mother’s necklace story. Gears of War 4 protagonist JD Fenix (Liam McIntyre), his friend Delmont Walker (Eugene Byrd), and of course JD’s father Marcus Fenix also return to the main storyline.

In top of the single-player campaign gameplay, the game will support three-player local split screen or online cooperative gameplay.

Gears 5 is developed by The Coalition as a sequel to Gears of War 4. As part of thee Gears of War series rebranding campaign, the game’s title got rid of “of War” part and now named just “Gears 5”.
