Books for a wannabe Entrepreneur

Zanzebek Blog. Books for Wannabe EntrepreneursThere are tons of literature on entrepreneurship, but these are to get you moving with every page you read:

1. «The $100 Startup» by Chris Gillebeau
This book actually made me go and open a local business in Almaty, which gave me lots of positive experience and I made some great new friends along the way.

2. «The Lean Startup» by Eric Ries
I bought this book at the Stambul Airport on the way back home to Almaty. Some of the things were applicable to the small business project I made, even here, in Kazakhstan.

My favourite quote from the book:

«Entrepreneurs are just members of a badly understood breed»

3. «Blue Ocean Strategy» by W. Chan Kim and Renée Mauborgne
This book was recommended to everyone on my course at university by a marketing teacher. The only person who read it turned out to be me, and boy that was an eye-opening read. Discovered several new points of view at the same old businesses we’ve all heard of (Cirque De Soleil, as one of examples). I’m still trying to take notes from the book and apply in real life (and in business).

4. «Losing My Virginity: How I’ve Survived, Had Fun, and Made a Fortune Doing Business My Way» by Richard Branson
This book is considered as an all time favourite by many people I know and follow on instagram. A must read. Before the book I used to think of business as something that brings negative feelings and experience. Now I see, there are some barriers, but so many benefits that not always can be counted in terms of money.

5. «Screw it, let’s do it» by Richard Branson
Richard Branson has a lot to tell, any book with his name enriches my knowledge of business and fills up that gap, the absence of my personal experience as an entrepreneur.

6. «The Art of War» by Sun Tzu
While reading «The Art of War» try to think of business instead of wars and battles, or about life in general. Very useful and full of wisdom. Some things don’t change even after thousands of years. Want to know which ones? Read the book, but make sure you do it when you are ready.

Buy on Amazon: The Art of War: A New Translation

7. «How To Win Friends And Influence People» by Dale Carnegie
I’m only about to meet Dale Carnegie’s works, but I’m sure it’s very helpful and a must read too, as many other business books I’ve read mention Carnegie, and many other bloggers recommend.

8. «Rich Dad, Poor Dad» by R. Kiyosaki
Robert Kiyosaki has a fascinating life story. He learned a «few» tricks while doing business and he’s very keen to share it with us.

Buy on Amazon: Rich Dad, Poor Dad

9. «Who Will Cry When You Die: Life Lessons from the Monk Who Sold His Ferrari» by Robin Sharma
Very motivational book, it might not have a lot of business tools to learn from, but it sure has very useful thoughts to motivate you and to organize your life. I suggest you implement and practice most things Robin Sharma tells about.

Guys, I’m now in search of the next great business/entrepreneurship book that can entertain me as well as teach new stuff. You know, with some nice stories with interesting twists. Can you recommend one?
